Tiling is a popular kitchen remodeling feature. Tiling in a kitchen, backsplashes, window insets, counter tops, and other niche areas will add highlights, accent specific areas, and set the tone for the overall kitchen. Tiling a backsplash is not that difficult and can be learned from any number of books. A good and inexpensive one is the Tiling 1-2-3 series from Home Depot.
There is an almost endless list of materials that can be used. A list of some of the more popular follows:
– Limestone pavers
– Stainless steel
– Plate glass or varied flat glass shapes
– Faux brick
– Ceramic tiles
– Stacked stone
Some of these will have to be sealed before installing and then resealed every so often to keep them from staining.
